General Information:
Oil: During an oil change you will typically change 1 quart. Actually capacity is slightly more. Any oil with JASO MC endorsement for wet clutch operation, but recommended is Rotella T4
Valve Lash: .003″ exhaust, .002″ intake – More Information Here
Spark plug: NGK D8EA or E3.36 – Here
Tire Size: Front: 90/90-19 Rear: 110/90-17
Tire Pressure: MAX 32 psi front, 35-40 psi rear. Reduce for offroad as low as 15-20 psi.
Headlight Bulb: TBR7 uses H6M (Here) – TBR7-D uses any H4 Headlight
Battery: AGM or Lithium – Here
Compression of motor should be 180 to 200 psi for top performance, 150 to 180 psi is good performance, 120 to 149 psi and it will run. Under 119 psi wont run. These are not machined with the highest of tolerances so new you may fall anywhere between 170 and 200.
Chain Tension: ~1″ of slack on bottom
Stock Gearing: (Later models came with 520 chains which this doesn’t apply to) 15t front and 46t rear stock – Upgrades Here – Tom has some great info Here
Levers/Throttle/Mirrors/Ergo: Stock parts are more expensive than aftermarket upgraded parts. – Upgrades Here
Top speed: Stock, with correct carburetor jetting, 55mph. Front sprocket: 60+ mph. Front and rear sprocket: 65+ mph. Ignition upgrades, front and rear sprockets, proper tuning of carb – 70mph.
Maintenance:
-Change oil at new – 0 Miles
-Change after first 50 miles
-Change ever 100-500 miles thereafter depending on riding style
Pre-Ride Check-list:
-Check chain tension
-Check oil
-Check bike over for loose nuts and bolts, to include steering stem nut, rear brake mechanism, shifter, axles, etc.
Torque Specs:
These torque specs are given by Adam over at ‘Dirtbike2022‘ – We are not liable if you break the weak steel in these bolts. Use this as guidance but not as the word of God. If you have any feedback or additional specs needed, Contact us. I generally find that 1-2 uggas is good spec for all non-essential bolts.
Front Axle : 35 ft/lbs – 47 Nm
Rear Axle : 35 ft/lbs – 47 nm
Front Caliper Bolts : 22 ft/lbs – 30 Nm
Rear Caliper Bolts : 22 ft/lbs – 30 Nm
Spark Plug :8.7 ft/lbs – 12 Nm
Oil Plug : 10 ft/lbs – 14Nm (24mm Socket)
Lower Fork Pinch Bolts: 25 ft/lbs – 34 Nm
Upper Fork Pinch Bolts: 17 ft/lbs – 23 Nm
Triple Tree Nut: 50 ft/lbs – 68 Nm (32mm Socket)
Head Bolts: First stage 12 to 14 ft/lbs – Second Stage 25 ft/lbs
Most body bolts are 10 to 15 ft/lbs – 14 Nm to 20 Nm
